Everything You Need To Know About RC Drifting!

How To Drift Videos featuring rc drifting are reasons enough to become a drifting fan. There are many rc car drifting videos online which are capable of turning us into drifting maniacs. These videos can even give you some experience in drifting your rc car.

When it comes down to the nuts and bolts of how to drift, the major question often faced by rc drifters is, how to drift when you run the risk of burning out the clutch or overheating the engine?  The how-to-drift question is answered by the use of electric rc cars and nitro rc cars, which are apt for drifting as the throttle is controlled easier. Light weight rc cars provide a superior drifting experience.rc drifting picture

The Necessities

So in learning how to drift with your rc car, here are some of the basic necessities. For starters, a good shaft drive is recommended as it provides good throttle response. Secondly, a standard Mabuchi 540 motor (some people even use a 19 turn motor) gives a better drifting experience. Other major factors which help solve the how to drift riddle is a four wheel drive and an rc car geared for acceleration rather than top speed.

In addition to the above mentioned factors, experience shows that touring cars can be converted into drift cars by changing their tires. The best tires for drifting are based on experience, and are made out of PVC pipes or rubber rc car tires encased in electrical tape.

A Couple Recommendations

Do any cars solve the how to drift question? Of course they do, the Tamiya Ford F150 TL-01 is one of them. The drifting experience can be enhanced with special features available in some rc cars. Cars such as the Megatech Nitro Gas RC Porsche 911 provide a great drifting experience on a smaller 1/10 scale. rc drifting

Several videos provide tire shredding drifting action and can help setup a good drift experience. These videos are available on the internet and several of these videos can be seen on our all new RC Car Drifting Video’s Page. The earliest rc drift videos come from Japan and feature cars with PVC tires. HPI Racing video’s feature the HPI racing Stage D Drift Kit and provide a great viewing experience.

The Physics Factor

As an RC car enters a tight corner at top speeds it looses its grip on the ground and the tail slides out which forces counter steering.  As the throttle is applied the car clips the corner in a sliding motion. The car maintains speed throughout the length of the corner and exits fast into the next corner.rc drifting picture

While demo videos can help enrich the drifting experience, it’s nothing like gaining experience yourself. Practice is the basis of a great drifter. Creating your own videos is a good and easy way to view progress, and learn from your mistakes. So what are you waiting for get out there and start drifting!!
